What to Know Before Buying a Iphone 3G In India – Price, Buying Guide,All

You have been waiting for months since the Iphone 3G was announced to be launched in Indian markets, but none of us had thought of a price i.e. the cost of Iphone in India. Some believed it to be cheap as in USA where the 16GB costs $299, but we know Indian mobile service providers can not increase the call rates for Iphone users to a higher extent very similar to what AT&T did in USA.  If you remember apple partnered with AT&T to provide Iphone for cheap to customers and could gain extra money from the call rates which were doubled for Iphone users.  So without any such partnerships in India, Apple is shipping limited Iphones as per demands (based on preregistration data from Vodafone and Airtel who are bringing this to India).

Here’s the complete story. Iphone which was scheduled to be launched in India on August 22, 2008 was launched but never could satisfy business expectations. The Iphone3G 8GB is priced at Rs 31,000 while the 16GB costs Rs 36,100 which is the price many Indians who like the phone won’t spend for mobile. But if you are one of the Iphone enthusiasts and are ready to purchase this elite luxurious mobile, we are here to help you on how availing it.

iPhone vs. iPod Touch

iPhone vs. iPod Touch - Looks Can Be Deceiving. When the iPhone was released back in the summer of 2007 many of us broke open our piggy bank only to find ourselves a few hundred dollars short of the $500 price tag Apple was commandeering. Then there were those of us who didn’t want to switch to AT&T and pay an extra $50 a month for the privilege of using a touch screen iPod. Apple heard our cries and it wasn’t long after the original iPhone release that the iPod Touch was released. On the surface the two devices share many similarities minus the phone feature of course, but take a closer look and you will find several notable differences between the two that make the iPhone a far superior multimedia device.

The physical specifications are very similar although the iPod Touch is a mere 3mm thinner and 0.06 oz thinner. Every other physical component including the hard drive and the touch screen are exactly the same.

Perhaps the most disappointing feature that was not ported over from the iPhone to the iPod Touch is the camera. For what was supposed to be a full featured multimedia device the lack of a camera certainly is lacking. Read more»

Superseding The iPhone

apple iphone, iphone, next generationWhen the first rumors began circulating about Apple secretly working on a phone version of the most popular mp3 player it sent many of the largest cellphone manufacturers scurrying off to the drawing board to come up with what would be able to compete with what would undoubtedly become the latest trend setting cellphone. Unfortunately at that point nobody had any idea what the iPhone would be capable of so they were left to work on pure hypotheses. Nokia released an updated version of its popular N95 with an 8GB hard drive, Samsung came out with a new and improved BlackJack, Motorola went with a new Sidekick, and Sony Ericsson released the P1. All of these devices featured some significant improvements over anything that was available today on the market but unfortunately for them it wasn’t enough to stop the storm that was coming. When the iPhone was officially released it created a buzz on par with the original release of the iPod. The internet forums were ablaze with discussion threads, analysts were predicting millions of sales within the first few days, and the leading cellphone manufacturers were left banging their heads against the wall.

Over a year has passed since the original iPhone was released and since then we have seen a several iPhone imitators and while the majority of them crashed and burned there were a few that seemingly flew under the radar yet managed to make a slight dent in the iPhone’s sales. P Read more»

Make The Most Of Your iPhone

Tips and Tricks To Make The Most Of Your iPhone

The iPhone is without question one of the most sophisticated and feature rich phone around today. As with any of our gadgets though we never realize its full potential and as such we miss out on the simple things that could make a great device into an even greater one. With that in mind here is a list of tips and tricks to help you make the most out of your iPhone:

1. Don’t Scroll, Tap!

If you are browsing a website in Safari and you wish to return to the top of the page instead of scrolling manually simply tap once on the very top of the screen and it will automatically scroll all the way up.

2. Make wtf and lol part of your daily vocabulary

The problem with most auto-spellers is their lack of commonly used internet jargon whether it’s lol or l8r, cya or the hundreds of other acronyms we use on a daily basis in e-mails and internet forums. When the auto-speller identifies one of these words are erroneous simply cancel the correction three times and it will automatically insert it in the dictionary file.

3. Expand that keyboard

The problem with most PDA on-screen keyboards is their tiny size which make it almost impossible to type an e-mail without making a mistake at every 2nd word. Fortunately the iPhone takes this into consideration. When you are using Safari or the notepad application flip the iPhone horizontally and the keyboard will follow suit to become a full screen keyboard. Read more»

Apple Iphone Overview

When Apple released the original iPod back in 2001 it sparked the birth of a new generation of mp3 players and created a worldwide buzz. A feat that many analysts said could never be matched again. 6 years later in 2007 Apple somehow recreated the same magic with the release of it iPhone and revolutionized the cellphone/pda market. While the $499 price tag for a 16gb iPhone may seem astronomically high for what is basically an iPod with a cellphone capabilities the iPhone does have several features that go beyond the typical PDA cellphone.

Overview Iphone Unlock Software

You may be wondering What the differences between the iLiberty+, iPlus and ZiPhone are. It may even confuse you to learn that the iLiberty+ and iPlus are not clones of ZiPhone. However, in this article you will get a brief overview of the basic features of each of these.

With the ZiPhone you will automatically be forced into a permanent downgrade of the bootloader to 3.9. You will not be able to undo and it will actually void your warranty. During the first phase, the most dangerous process actually is performed. This is known as flashing and may actually lead to the corruption of your ram disk. You will have to be careful here since all of your apps go onto your ram disk, which is not expandable. After this process occurs there are actually quite a lot of ZiPhones that have problems using WiFi.

Both iLiberty+ and iPlus use a 3.9 FakeBlank bootloader. This bootloader is fully reversible whenever the right software is used. These also use a ram disk that is smaller, safer, customizable and expandable via payloads.

Iphone Unlock Dictionary & Terms

Are you confused by the various iPhone terms that are being used in the
iPhone community today? Then you will need this dictionary to help you
understand these words. What is:

Activation: Whenever you first purchase an iPhone the only thing
that you can do is call 911. In order to be able to place other phone calls you
will need to actually activate your phone. In order to be able to activate
through iTunes you will need to use an official Apple carrier carrier. Otherwise
you will need to perform what is known as a hack. Once your phone is activated
it will become an iPod touch with camera and bluetooth. At this point you may
want to proceed to jailbreak and unlock your phone so that you can use it on
other carriers as well.

anySIM: This is the GUI version of the unlocking program that was
developed by the iPhone Dev Team. The program is also similar in function to the
unlock.app. With this program you will be able to use any SIM in your iPhone.

Apptapp Installer: This program has jailbreak functionality,
which aids with the installation of a program that allows you to access an
online directory that is filled with third party programs that are available for
the iPhone. This is available for both the Mac and Windows versions of iPhone.
Once this begins to install, you will notice that the program itself is called “Installer.”

ARM Core: The Operating System (OS) is ran by this processor. This
is actually a scaled down version of Mac OS X.

Baseband: This is the processor. Its job is to manage all of
the functions that require access to your phone’s antenna. The GSM phone, the
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are all controlled by the baseband processor, which has its
own RAM and flash resources. These are separate from the ARM core resources as
it is a resource for the operating system.

Bootloader: This really small program is located somewhere in your
phone’s non-volatile memory. Its job is to ‘bootstrap’ the processor’s startup
and call up the main program, which is usually much larger than the bootloader
itself is. The bootloader also provides a way in which to obtain and store an
updated version of your phone’s main program. Usually your bootloader will not
be updated since it is the main program that gets the updates, not the
bootloader itself. The reason for this is because if something were to go wrong
whenever you were updating your main program, the bootloader will be able to
restore your main program with the one that you actually prefer to have. You do
need to be careful though if you ever choose to update your bootloader because
if anything goes wrong here your bootloader will become corrupted, which means
that your processor will not ever be able to restart. For all intents and
purposes, at this point your phone is actually dead.

Bricked: This means that your phone is completely dead and thus
unusable. The phone will only be good for parts at this point since nobody will
ever be able to fix a bricked phone. Some people will say that a phone is
bricked whenever it is unusable for a short period of time, but these people
simply do not know any better.

Bypass activation: Via this process your phone will no longer
be linked to AT&T’s service contract. This is done by using a program such
as iNdependence, wiNstaller or PACAY. These programs allow you to bypass the
procedure that has you sign up for the contract with AT&T. By using these
programs you will be able to use any feature on the phone but not the phone
itself.

EDGE: This term stands for Enhanced Data rates for GSM
Evolution (EDGE) or Enhanced GPRS (EGPRS). It is a digital mobile phone
technology through which you can increase your phone’s data transmission rate
and thus improve your phone’s data transmission reliability. Technically, a 3G
network is classified as the unofficial standard. However, since 2003 2.75G has
been introduced into GSM networks around the world because of its slower network
speed. Read more»
