Unlock Apple iPhone

In this step by step guide we are going to jailbreak an iPhone 3GS  with firmware 3.0. GeoHot has just released purplera1n to jailbreak the iPhone 3GS . It is important to know that it is a beta version, things might go wrong and we will not be responsible. This method is for Windows XP and Windows Vista and have weak support. Windows 7 is not recommended. Cydia will be installed and from Cydia you will be able to install ultrasn0w and unlock your iPhone 3GS. Read more to get all details.

There are people who have problems with this jailbreak:
- It works only on Windows XP SP2
- 32 bit OS’s
- ITunes 8.2.0.23
- If something goes wrong you can always recover.

Requirements:
- 3GS iPhone with firmware 3.0
- ITunes 8.2 (Download)
- Purplera1n (Download)

1. Connect your iPhone to 3GS and open purplera1n (for Windows Vista users: Run purplera1in in Windows XP SP2 compability mode).

2. Press “make it ra1n” and it will notify  “waiting for reboot”. It will reboot in recovery mode and you’ll see the purplera1n image/logo.

3. After a few minutes your iPhone will boot and you’ll see an app called “Freeze”. Make sure you have an internet connection (3G or WiFi) and open Freeze. Then install Cydia.

4. Cydia is downloaded and installed and when the proces finishes, Cydia will be seen jumping on the board (if not, reboot your iPhone). Open Cydia, wait until Cydia is reorganized and then install Cydelete from Cydia.

5. Go back to your springboard and go to “Settings”. Scroll down and define under Cydelete: “Non-Deletion Cydia“. Now remove Freeze the way you remove AppStore apps.

Possible failures and quick fixes:

• Purplera1n crashes to “make it ra1n ‘: Apple Device Service is not running. Windowskey + R and type “services.msc”. Search this list Apple Mobile Device Service and Right Start.
• Purplera1n hangs at “Waiting on reboot”: you use Windows XP or any 32-bit version of Windows XP. Make sure you have iTunes 8.2.0.23 (restart your PC after installing it).
• You get only the “Connect to iTunes” logo: the reason is about the same as above. Do the same as above, or try a different computer.
