Unlock Apple Iphone

Millions of people have bought the massively popular Iphone and there are currently people buying it everyday still as it becomes more popular and the kinks worked out. One of the problems with the Iphone was the fact that it was tied up with the AT&T network only and it just wasn’t feasible. For instance businessmen who travel a lot most likely would use prepaid phone cards from different providers depending which locale there in. Some people also prefer using a different provider other then AT&T for whatever reasons they may have which is perfectly fine and why some hackers have developed a method to unlock your Iphone which basically means you can use any SIM card to activate the Iphone. People were selling software in order to do this just a few months ago but now there are free methods of doing the task and I’m going to explain how to unlock your Iphone using AppTapp.

Basic Unlock Steps

As you know Apple won’t support any installations coming from third party applications but there is now a program called AppTapp that allows you to download all the necessary files in order to unlock your Iphone as well as a bunch of other great features and software programs. Once you install AppTapp to your Iphone it will first pop-up with the question asking you which firmware you’re currently using so find out which yours is running and select it to move on. If everything works as it should then you’ll now be prompted with a congratulations screen letting you know that AppTapp installed properly. You should also notice a new app on the home screen now that reads installer. Now before moving on you should make sure your Iphone is connected through a WiFi connection and download the following applications from the “installer” folder.

1. Community Sources.
2. BSD Subsystem.
3. OpenSSH

Performing the Unlocking Method

You’ll need to download and install the following files before anything else and the files are Unlock.app, lockdownd and Cyberduck. After you’re done that go to the settings on your Iphone and change the Auto-Lock feature to never and then find your Iphones IP address and write it down for now. Now you’ll need to open up Cyberduck and click the open connection button in the top left area. This is where you type the IP address you just wrote down, also make sure the SFTP is selected and that you’re using port 22.

Now you’ll be prompted for some information here is the information you need.

Username – root

Password – dottie

Now you should be connected and in the private/var/root folder. You want to go to the main directory by choosing the “/”, and then go to “/usr/libexec”. Once there you need to drag and drop the lockdownd file into the folder. Then go to Cyberduck and drag the unlock file from the Mac’s desktop to the /Applications folder at the top of the main menu. Once you’re done all of that you should then turn your Iphone off remove the SIM card and turn it back on and choose the unlock application. If all went smoothly then it should take 20 minutes to download all the files and you will have a completely unlocked phone that will be able to use any SIM card from any provider.
