Landline phones always offer cheap calling charges. There are many unlimited plans available for landline phones. Landline phones offer better reliability and battery backup. Earlier, landline phones used to very boring and simple; they used to have less features as compared to mobile phones. However, OpenPeak is developing a landline phone similar to iPhone. They want to completely remove the ugly looking and poor featured landline phones from the market.

They have decided to redefine the landline phones and make them a communication hub for homes. OpenPeak has named their landline phone as “OpenFrame.” OpenFrame will be a revolution in landline phones as it will have a touchscreen and applications like calendar, news, weather etc. Further, it will also have an operating system and you’ll be able to install third party applications. You’ll also be able to use it as an interface to connect Internet on a Laptop or Computer.

There will be many games preinstalled on the phone. The screen will be 5-inch on diagonal. OpenFrame will have bigger LCD screen than all mobile phones in market. Further, it will have internal hard disk of 16GB. OpenPeak has also claimed that they’ll go for maximum possible hard disk. It would be powered by a 600 Mhz processor and will have 150 MB of RAM. OpenFrame will have monstrous performance.

The interface will be similar to iPhone. It will have all the features of iPhone and also those missing in it. The menu will be simple to use. OpenPeak also promised that the operating system will support many languages. OpenPeak has first planned its launch in US. After US they’ll launch OpenFrame in UK after one month.

Openframe will also have connectivity with Internet and OpenPeak is planning a Wifi module for it. There will be support for streaming video and audio files too. Further, you’ll be able to listen to Internet Radio. The device is expected to be sold by telephone companies like Verizon and At&T. The price will be between $200 and $300. The release will be made in January 2009. This price is for locked phones with the network. OpenPeak was quite regarding the price of unlocked phones.
