Tips and Tricks To Make The Most Of Your iPhone

The iPhone is without question one of the most sophisticated and feature rich phone around today. As with any of our gadgets though we never realize its full potential and as such we miss out on the simple things that could make a great device into an even greater one. With that in mind here is a list of tips and tricks to help you make the most out of your iPhone:

1. Don’t Scroll, Tap!

If you are browsing a website in Safari and you wish to return to the top of the page instead of scrolling manually simply tap once on the very top of the screen and it will automatically scroll all the way up.

2. Make wtf and lol part of your daily vocabulary

The problem with most auto-spellers is their lack of commonly used internet jargon whether it’s lol or l8r, cya or the hundreds of other acronyms we use on a daily basis in e-mails and internet forums. When the auto-speller identifies one of these words are erroneous simply cancel the correction three times and it will automatically insert it in the dictionary file.

3. Expand that keyboard

The problem with most PDA on-screen keyboards is their tiny size which make it almost impossible to type an e-mail without making a mistake at every 2nd word. Fortunately the iPhone takes this into consideration. When you are using Safari or the notepad application flip the iPhone horizontally and the keyboard will follow suit to become a full screen keyboard.

4. Find Your Way Home Easier

If you have become so dependent on the iPhone Map applications you can’t orient yourself in your own neighborhood anymore you can make it even easier to find your way back home by setting a home destination. Load up your address in the application and create a bookmark for it. You can create as many bookmarks as you can possibly think of.

5. Show off your customized iPhone

While the iPhone does not have a software Print Screen function it is still possible to do so. Hold the power button and the home button simultaneously for 3 seconds. You can find the file in your pictures folder.

6. Silence please

To quickly silence an incoming call on your iPhone press the sleep/wake button once. If you wish to send your mother in law’s call straight to voice mail simply press it twice.

7. Nothing like a clean start

When your iPhone starts having a mind of its own perhaps it’s time for a restart. Unlike the soft reset is only good if your iPhone freezes this hard reset clears the cache and resets everything. To do so hold the right and hold buttons for 7 seconds. The iPhone will remain closed until you power it back on. The reset does not affect any of your set preferences.
